After the devastating earthquake in Haiti in January 2010, The Gathering helped a young couple, Gabriel and Richling Paul, build a 2-room brick house in Port-au-Prince. Since that time, Gabriel and Richling, have ministered to thousands of Haitians in a variety of ways with the help of funds from The Gathering, family and friends.

The Paul family has provided workshops for Haitians to gain valuable skills for making a living from health care and craft making to cake baking. With our support they have ministered to many children with school supplies, food for people in extreme poverty, and counseling for those who are in constant life-threatening danger from armed gangs who have overtaken the streets of Port-au-Prince. Additionally, they have provided happier times funding parties to celebrate holidays showing Christ’s love to Haitians despite the turmoil.
Now Gabriel and Richling have been forced out of Port-au-Prince. It was too dangerous for them to continue to stay there with their two young children, Michael and Joshua. The Gathering was able to send timely funds for them to escape Port-au-Prince to the countryside property of Richling’s parents.
Gabriel and Richling will continue to minister in this new location. Many other Haitian families have had to flee Port-au-Prince. God has blessed this ministry and kept our dear friends safe while they assist the needs of their Haitian neighbors.
